To achieve optimum health there are so many factors to take into consideration, for example how well your sleeping, what are your stress levels like, how much exercise do you do and so on, but by far one of the most important factors to consider is the quality of your diet.
Maintaining weight, managing hormone imbalances, getting the correct nutrients, increasing energy levels amongst many others can all be improved through your diet.
Recognising and making these - often small changes - to your current diet can be overwhelming, and so the days and weeks can pass by and nothing changes. It often takes the support and encouragement from someone else to empower you to start making sustainable improvements.
This is not about faddy diets that don't work, the ones that leave you feeling hungry, unsatisfied and have the potential to start you with a restrictive controlling relationship with food. This is about embracing all of the beautiful and diverse foods that we have access to, the true, whole, nourishing foods, that give your body what it needs to thrive and blossom.
This is about looking closely at ‘your’ life and working out a plan of action for ‘you’ to be able to incorporate sustainable diet changes that bring ‘you’ vitality, good health and overall wellness.
Being encouraged in the correct way and empowering you to make these changes that will last a lifetime. This is definitely not a one size fits all approach, this has to be all about ‘you’, this has to take into consideration hurdles, boundaries and difficulties that you face and together we work through them to reach your end goals.
Diet is key in the effective function of our bodily systems which are all completely in tune with each other. When something is going wrong in one part of the body, the likelihood is that this will have a knock on effect in another part.
Eating a healthy diet is such an important and effective way for you to manage your overall physical and mental health and this cannot be exaggerated enough.
The lifestyle that we chose to live can have a significant impact on our bodies and how well they function. Quite often it’s just small changes that we need to make a huge difference to our overall health.
Good health can involve many aspects of our life and with the right help we are all capable of taking our health and wellness into our own hands.
Despite the well known benefits of a healthy lifestyle, implementing this routine into daily life can be a difficult task. Small behavioural changes over time can lead to big results, not only helping you acheive your own health goals but will reduce the chances of adopting chronic disease in the future.
My own health journey has allowed me to understand how much our bodies are interconnected and the importance of using a more rounded and holistic approach to individual health which has enabled me to bring a high level of empathy, respect, and understanding to my practice.
The menopause marks 1 whole year without a period, however, the lead up to this day which is often called the peri-menopause can last from a few months to a number of years.
It can be described as a second puberty, often women experiencing mood swings, depression, irritability, changes in periods, disturbed sleep, hot flashes, low libido and the list goes on..
Its deemed to be long, rocky and unpleasant, not just for ourselves but for those around us and because we are all so beautifully unique we will all experience something different and at different points in our life.
For some its an easier road than others, but for a lot of us, this can be a very scary, lonely and unhappy time, feeling completely out of control and unable to bring harmony to our life’s anymore.
Whilst the peri-menopause and the menopause is something that we cant avoid, we do have the capacity to control the severity of the symptoms by the lifestyle we chose to live. Certain lifestyle changes such as eating a healthy diet, exercising and improving overall wellbeing, can really put your body in a good position to balance your hormones and take the transition into our menopausal years head on.

We all have goals, but how many of us actually reach them? Ask yourself how you would feel if you were able to achieve your goal, how you would feel everyday, and how much it would improve your life. Too often we ignore these goals and allow them to just be pipe dreams, now this is your opportunity to make them reality.
